So it has been a while since I posted and if I am honest I will say that guilt trails right behind that long list of things that have kept me from getting on lately! I don't even think I have posted our Halloween pictures! Guilt overwhelms me now!
So every Sunday after Thanksgiving is our day to put up the tree, make treats, string candy, pull out our homemade ornaments and just be together as a family! With that being said... The business of the year was quickly approaching and we realized that Bubba had a great break the day before Thanksgiving so what did we do....WE BROKE TRADITION!!!! And put up our tree early! It was so relaxing and fun! IT was before Thanksgiving! Sometimes to have sanity it's just what you do, you break tradition! I was okay with that!
Mary B got to pick out our tree this year and it was huge! She was proud! We ordered pizza and blared our favorite holiday song by NSync "Happy Holidays" (who would of thought?). We pulled out the froot loops and started stringing away! Lindsey was in town and we made puppy chow, which by the way is quite addictive! Our favorite thing to do is pull out the special box of ornaments. This box contains every single little ornament the kids have ever made! THEY LOVE IT! I was just telling my sister the other day how much I use to love to "theme out" our tree when we were first married. Whether it be red, silver, gold or even blue I would get expensive ornaments (well not really expensive) and go to town! But what I really love now is seeing all our little trinkets and hand made designs that hang from our tree. At last our tree has real meaning and a since of pride... We tell stories over and over of how old they were at this point and that point! It is so sweet! Although I have to reign them in when they try to start decorating the rest of the house! It's all in good fun!
Old traditions are great but sometimes new ones take the guilt off and leave us with opportunities for real fun!
Early Merry Christmas
