The "god of efficiency"

My good friend Joanne once told me that when she had younger kids, she realized that she had to let go of the "god of efficiency."
I thought that was one of the most profound statements I had ever heard! Being a mother of four... my life revolves around being EFFICIENT and keeping the messes to a minimum!!!I mean I am always looking for the quickest and most effective way to put my plan into place.
Whether I am giving baths, packing lunches (well actually Bubba packs lunches), getting to a soccer game, dressing the kids, cleaning the house, WALKING THE DOG, I always look for the easiest and quickest way to accomplish my task.
When I stop and think about my efficient ways, I wonder how many opportunities I missed to have a good laugh, or get a cute shot, to give a big hug, or just sit and listen!!!!
So today is devoted to the "god of efficiency," may I recognize the moments in life that require an efficient plan and the days where I just need to stop and smell the roses!!! (Even if the roses are dirty and smelly, or the process of admiring them causes a delay in my plans)
