Now and then...

Emma was two here! We had just moved to Sewanee and I was trying to find ways to get them both out of the house and maintain my sanity at the same time. Lots of very slow and long walks, while keeping Emma from going in a ditch and maintaining a stroller! That seems like so long ago but it felt like eternity at the time! Newborns are tough, poor Izzy spent most of her first year in this stinkin' carseat. There I am snapping shots and you don't even see the poor child (I think she is about 5 mo at this point)! I can't be too tough on myself, at least we are out of the house, right?
That was then....

This is now...

A stroll down our street with both girls pushing their own strollers! Wow, things sure do change in a year! Of course, I don't know what is tougher, a very precious screaming newborn in a stroller or a delightfully stubborn 18 mo old determined you won't help her stroll her baby?

Either way, whatever "phase" of life you are in right now remember it's just a phase! I think sometimes I look at life and think, "if I can just get the kids to this point then it will be easier!" I am guilty of living for the future a lot, sometimes I miss the special moments of the here and now. So here's to the HERE AND NOW, stubborn and all. I am going to enjoy every minute of this time (with a few melt downs along the way, ha!)

Cortney, Thanks for reminding me as a "newbie" parent about the phases of life. I think Connar and Mary B. have a lot in common from what I hear... lots and lots of energy that never ends! Plus Connar hates to be restrained in any way -car seat, stroller, life jacket, and the list goes on. However, he is a joy and I am so thankful for his very persistent, excited, extroverted personality.
